True Love

True Love
A Chuck Weiskircher Poem © 1/27/2014

Love is patient, love is kind
Love is a feeling of heart and mind
Love is not proud and it is not rude
Love is not easily angered when others are crude.

Love is willing to forgive and to forget
True love never seems to worry or fret.
True love accepts you as you are
True love even helps to heal scars.

True love does not look at folks on the outside
When looking for a good groom or a bride.
The inner person is what matters most
And true love will keep the couple close.

True love is demonstrated by action not words
Saying one thing and doing another is for the birds.
True love is not based upon how we feel
But rather on words in actions that are real.

Finding true love is not easy to do
It is not like trying on some new shoes
It is all about how you are just being yourself
And placing the other person on the top shelf.

Sex is not love, we know this is true
But rather an imitation that is crude
Lust is not worthy to be called love
It leads to relationships we want out of.

True love is willing to commit long term
It is patient and yet willing to be firm.
True love does not look at the others past
It looks to the future together that will last.
