Winter is Coming

Winter is coming
A Chuck Weiskircher Poem © 5/20/2014

Some people fear the coming of winter
Cold shoots through them like a splinter.
Thoughts of cold dreary days fill their minds
They just want to sit in warmth and shut the blinds.

Then there are those who enjoy the snow
When it gets cold they get up and go.
Shoveling the driveway is just part of life
Usually men even get help from their wife.

Then the little ones want to go out and play
And you go under the house to get out the sleigh.
Down the hill they like to fly
Underneath an azure blue sky.

Snow forts and snowballs we all build
Then we play all day until we are chilled.
Then it is into the house for some hot coco
Dry clothes and warmth make the kids loco.

Back out we go for more fun in the snow
Papa is starting to move kind of slow.
We roll up a snowman and put on his hat
Then a snowball hits my head with a splat.

We wrestle around and throw snow in the air
We get wet and cold again but just don’t care.
We know that the snow will not last
We just want to play and have a blast.

Before we know it the time to go is here
For some the thought of leaving brings a tear.
As we drive down the hill we wave good bye
And remember the good times we had with a sigh.Snowy road
