Bedtime Stories
A Chuck Weiskircher Poem © 4/28/2011

Once upon a time and long, long ago
Are wonderful ways to begin an imaginary show.
Dragons and knights dance across the stage
And the stories bring joy to those of every age.

Princes and knights all ride their favorite steeds
And travel the lands doing good deeds.
Fairies and princesses all find their true love
And live happily ever after in the castle above.

Children lost in the woods will find their way home
Yet even when lost they are never alone.
They are surrounded by their friends the hare and sparrow
To lead them down the path that is straight and narrow.

In cauldrons that always boil and bubble
Witches brew potions, poisons and trouble.
Yet in each story one thing is true
All the Witches plans will eventually fall through.

Sometimes in stories even an Ogre can be good
And stealing from the rich is OK if you are Robin Hood.
Goldilocks eats porridge then sleeps in a bear’s bed
Three little pigs watch out for the wolf with dread.

Frogs become Princes and boys live in Neverland
Fighting Indians and Pirates and having a time that is grand.
The hidden truth comes out after one thing then another
Even Indians and Pirates and small boys need a mother.

Little boys and girls grow sleepy and their eyes begin to close
Soon the story teller will leave them to their evening doze.
Their minds will drift upon the sea of dreams
And life will look better when seem by moon beams.
