How can you tell if a man is mature or if he just looks like a man but is still a boy on the inside?
I agree that this is a difficult thing to know.
Sometimes a man is only one on the outside and still thinks childish thoughts on the inside. He wants to play practical jokes all the time, avoid responsibilities and long term relationship commitments. He wants to date a string of several girls who all like him and give him different kinds of affirmation but he is unwilling to eliminate any he is not truly serious about. The reason is that he is not truly serious about any of his relationships with these girls. He simply wants a good time without taking any responsibility.
Fortunately there are several ways to tell if a male who looks old enough to be a man truly IS a man.
One of them is how he reacts to being chewed out for something he did wrong.
An immature boy/man will start by pointing fingers while blaming others or making excuses.
A mature man will acknowledge his mistake and even apologize for making it. He will then try to make restitution if that is called for.
Another way to tell if a male is a boy or a man is the level of commitment he is willing to make to a woman.
I have been saying for YEARS that men need to show more respect for women.
I have taught my sons these lessons. I am teaching my grandsons these lessons (more by actions than words) and I taught my Boy Scouts this while I was an Assistant Scoutmaster.
Men who respect women will not simply put on an act while others are watching in order to get what they want, they will act with respect even if only he and the woman and God are there together.
Being a man who wants to have an in depth relationship with a woman means he is willing to step up and make the hard choice to be in a committed long term relationship rather than just a “fling”.
Boys date, men go courting.
Boys are all about today and will take what consequences comes tomorrow. Men act mature today and consider how their actions will affect tomorrow.
Boys want bigger and better toys. Men want to invest today for the benefits they will reap in the future.
Boys want to act in ways that make people like them. Men act in ways that will make people Respect them for doing what is right and this starts at home by how they show respect to those around them in their own family, especially their mothers.
