Keep on fighting the good fight!
Everyone needs some encouragement from time to time. No one can keep waking up day after day to face the battles of life without feeling discouraged from time to time. God is with us and no one can stand against those who have God dwelling within them.
No one knows how long we have left on earth before we will be called home. We may be given many years or perhaps only the next sixty seconds will be ours before our time here is over and we go home to heaven.
However much time we have left here on earth we all know that we are in the midst of a spiritual war. Our fight is not against flesh and blood (although people will be involved on one side or the other, people are never our enemies) but against principalities and powers of darkness in high places. Our daily battles involve our thoughts as well as our actions. How we think does affect how we act.
Everyone who has been fighting the good fight of faith knows that the battles are real and the wounds we receive leave scars. Some have even wandered away from the fight because their faith has been shaken or deflated by discouragement; their faith has become ineffective and weak. They have forgotten what is written about them in John’s first letter. Our faith has already overcome the world.
1 John 5:4
For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.
We who call upon the name of the Lord should take hold of His truth which always supersedes natural fact.
Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
God’s plan is for us to never give up. His desire is for us to always keep on relying upon him and turning to him with our needs and asking him to satisfy them. He promises to give us the victory if we will not give up. Eternal life is the fullness of the blessing of God that’s been made available to each one of us, and is the culmination of all of the promises of God and the reality of Who He is. If we keep fighting the good fight we will gain the reward. Faith and hope are not things we give up simply because our prayers were not answered instantly with a “Yes” answer. Faith and hope are the things we hold on to while the world crumbles all around us. When we pray that “God’s will be done”, then we can expect that whatever God is allowing is according to his will and his purpose.
There are those inside the church who have no desire to be involved in the daily battle. They believe that because they pay their church staff a salary through their tithes that the staff has been paid to fight in their place.
Not only is this unacceptable it is also unrealistic. No one can live on earth without being involved in the war.
Either you are helping the side of light or you are supporting the side of darkness. There is no middle ground.
No one who has a lamp hides it under a basket. Those with a candle set it up where it sheds light for all in the room to see.
Jesus is the light of the world.
Those who follow Jesus will not walk in darkness but walk in the light. Those who walk in darkness will stumble and fall and those who desire darkness rather than light will flee from the light. Jesus is not another light and he is not holding a light. He did not declare that he is the way to the light but he said he is the light.
Jesus is the Shekinah glory of God almighty. He is as close to us today as a whispered prayer. As the light of the world Jesus leads us in the way we should go. Whenever we come to a time for decision we should seek his will and shine his light upon the paths. His wisdom will show us the pits, snares, traps and stones which could trip us and make us stumble. Remember always that Jesus is the king of kings and Lord of Lords. He is in control of the entire universe and everything within it. Nothing can come into your life until after it has passed through Jesus. The Holy Spirit dwells within us to help us to know and do the will of God. Hold fast to the word of life and continue moment by moment to fight the good fight of faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
