Conservatism VS Socialism (my views).

Socialist

I want to apologize in advance to my many liberal friends who may read this. I am not picking out any particular person or persons viewpoint. I am simply performing my own comparisons of the two views from my own personal perspective.

Conservatism VS Socialism (my views).

I believe that Socialism leads to Marxism (which is communism). Communism is an unsustainable social system I believe because people are defective and cannot successfully live in that type of society.

The major defect in Marxism is obvious to nearly everyone. It is dependent on a type of human nature that is rarely found in individuals and never in groups within a society outside of churches (and not often enough even there).

For Marxism to work, greed and jealousy cannot exist (or must be put aside or subverted) and people must have a general feeling of charity and a willingness to work their hardest for the good of everyone. These are obviously not common traits and have never existed in any previous society. Neither do they exist in any society today. Some people may have this generous nature as individuals or some as families but it is not found anywhere in a society as a whole.

Marxism could also work if those who have the greatest abilities and those who work the hardest are satisfied with the rewards equivalent to those with lesser abilities and those who don’t work hard at all. This is also very unlikely as a truly communistic society forces everyone to share all goods and services equally with no one getting more for exerting more effort. Marxism will always lead to free riding and slacking. Indeed! What would be the motivation for anyone to do more when the rewards are the same for those who do less?

I believe that those who work the hardest should be rewarded for their efforts. In a communistic society this is not possible as everyone gets the same division of goods and services from worker to leader (unless the leader is in the bureaucracy and they get more in order to put on appearances for other government leaders). Even healthcare is provided the same for everyone so those with more needs get nothing extra or sometimes nothing at all as a way to control costs. Some people in a communistic society would chose to end their own lives rather than to suffer from disease because the government healthcare system will not help them.

As a “Conservative” I believe the government has a responsibility to help those who cannot help themselves. Other than that I believe government should stay out of the personal lives of their citizens and minimize the regulation of businesses. I also believe that no business should be too big to fail if they are managed poorly.

Those who can help themselves should and if they do not then they should learn to do without (this is called “Self-Reliance” or the law of the jungle).

There should be no unemployment as I believe that everyone can do something for themselves and others unless they have a disability or severe handicap which renders them unable to help themselves which places them in the GRG (government responsibility group).  Everyone else outside that group should do something and the government has in the past created jobs for people to do; even if it is only cleaning up public parks, serving as hospital staff or feeding the helpless. I have no problem with the government using tax money to pay people to work at these jobs until they can be trained or find something better.  Along with these jobs the formerly unemployed should be receiving mandatory job training for better paying positions.  Making music is a worthy skill or talent and people who make music should be given more opportunities to perform publically and then be compensated for their efforts.

I believe that all churches that call themselves a “Christian” church should be doing more to support those who cannot support themselves.  It is an unfortunate statistic in America that most churches only receive 2% of their congregation member’s income (100% of the congregation giving a combined total of 2% as some give 10% or more and many others give less or nothing at all). God has asked for 10% to be given to the church so it can do the work he designed for it to do.  I believe that “IF” the people who go to church and call themselves “Christian” were to stepped up to the task and gave the entire 10% of their income then the church could eliminate hunger in America within 5 years.  For thousands of years people have relied upon the church to help the poor. In Israel God commanded the people to bring in the entire tithe and the priests to distribute it. Musicians and singers who performed before the Lord were also to be compensated for their efforts and supported by the church.

It is only within the last hundred or so years that people have looked to the government for this help.  The government of the USA “Takes” more than 10% of everyone’s income and yet it cannot (or will not) use these funds to reduce the suffering of our poor. Oh sure, we all here about some government program to relive the poor in some places and in some small way. But if you look at how much the government spends on the poor and compare it to how much is spent on the military you will see gross injustice, negligence and inequality.

Most rational beings would agree that good and evil exist in the world. If there is such a thing as “Good” then there must exist a moral absolute to judge evil and good against; otherwise there are only subjective individual interpretations of feelings. One person may feel that loving their neighbor is good. Another may feel that eating their neighbor is good. Without a moral absolute there is no way to tell if either opinion is good. I would prefer not to get eaten by my neighbor.
